What started out as a way to challenge myself to be a stronger visual artist, is continuing its journey. As soon as I notified the judges about my conversation with the LBJ, my film was automatically not selected for the contest 😥.....devastated of course. This last month has been an incredible journey and needless to say I stand behind the integrity of my independent film. I'm actually a little flattered I made such an amazing home movie it seemed to be a real ad! Of course it is not affiliated with the Beto campaign or any of the LBJ/NARA employees, partners or affiliates. BUT, i can say that as of September 28, 2018, according to Youtube 9 out of every 90 people don't like my video. And as much as I admire dissent I can enjoy the implications of those statistics just as much....
Of course it's in my nature to find the silver lining in any situation so this would be no different.
Like I said what started out as a way to challenge myself will continue on with the second half of the video... I intend to document the upcoming Willie Nelson political Rally and see exactly what Cruz supporters have to say about it. If I am able to challenge myself to be a partisan film maker I can certainly challenge myself to be a bi-partisan film maker too. Does anyone else hear a casting call?
So yes albeit totally bummed my first short film "We Vote We Win" didn't make the final cut, I know this is just the beginning of an exciting new journey as a film maker. So I want to thank all the dissenters out there because of you, I evolve and grow to be better (just read the video comments lol). I implore you to keep watching and lets keep the discussion alive. I want to know what you think, if theres anyone out there who cares to comment....so I'll leave it at that for now. Respectfully to the people, by the people and for the people, Finding Fina.
